April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. In seventh grade she began playing guitar and piano lessons which ignited her passion for music writing. At the age of 12 April wrote her first song Different. In her 14th year April spent a lot of her time creating and playing with songs. Soon, April began to take trips to NY and LA along with her dad to help them to write songs. April included other subjects in her hit song"Take my Hand. These topics included topics for her friends who dealt issues like peer pressure, disabilities or even teen suicidal thoughts. Lockhart is an influencer in the beauty and lifestyle industry with an ever-growing fan base. She collaborates with the renowned brand Ilia in partnership, in addition to being an expert in the field of lifestyle. The disability she has is part of her identity, but it's not all of the image. Lockhart's Twitter profile does not conceal her being disabled, but neither does it make a point of it. What message is it sending? There is more to us than just our physical self. The identities we have are complex and encompass a variety of dimensions. Lockhart through a video message sent from her Nashville home, states that I don't wish for this to define my character. I'm much far more than just my physical self. This doesn't influence my day-to-day routine. I carry on my business as usual and have found my own ways to adapt. It's a big aspect of my existence, therefore it's important to talk about it. Lockhart encourages us to keep moving forward with self-acceptance. She has gone through phases where she was uncomfortable dressing in certain styles that showed her arms. Now she wears whatever outfit she likes and uploads photos on Facebook in awe. Self-love she said is a kind of journey. "I do not think that you'll be in that place," she said. It's a long journey. I'm sure that you never reach your destination. I believe that it's really vital to surround yourself those who can discern and understand your heart.
